Med Health Services Receives American College Of Radiology Accreditation
 

PITTSBURGH, PA (June 27, 2006) Med Health Services, a high-technology outpatient diagnostic company based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in the modalities of Nuclear Medicine and General and Vascular Ultrasound as the result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

By employing the latest state-of-the-art technology, Med Health Services is taking imaging directly to patients, instead of making them come to the imaging. Our outpatient facilities provide physicians, clinics, nursing and personal care homes in the Tri-State area with the diagnostic testing services that are essential to the basic management of patient care. A pioneer in a multi-specialty group practice of outpatient medicine, Med Health Services has multiple outpatient centers and walk-in laboratory draw stations that are designed, built and operated around the needs of patients and their families. Our specially trained and certified technicians provide all modalities of ultrasound and echocardiography, as well as nuclear medicine and laboratory services to physicians and patients alike, placing testing in the doctors’ hands, as opposed to sending patients to various third party facilities scattered across town. Med Health Services also provides STAT, bedside diagnostic services to approximately 60 personal care homes and 20 nursing homes throughout the area, virtually eliminating scheduling delays for testing, hospital emergency room visits, etc.

The ACR awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards on quality and safety after a peer-review evaluation of the practice. Board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field conduct all of the evaluations. They assess the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of the facility equipment. The surveyors report their findings to the ACR’s committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report.

The ACR is a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic-interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, and nuclear medicine and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology, and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
