Dr. Oliver W. Caminos specializes in the outpatient care of the primarily
cardiac, vascular, complex and end-stage cardiomyopathy patients, with special
emphasis in congestive heart failure. In the course of his career, he has
distinguished himself as a lecturer in the subject of geriatric cardiology,
arteriosclerosis, and preventive medicine. He strongly believes that outpatient
diagnostic and medical treatment is the way of the future in medicine. Committed
to avoiding hospital admissions whenever possible, Dr. Caminos explains, "As
doctors, we have repeatedly found that physicians, in a modern-day outpatient
facility such as Pittsburgh Cardiovascular Institute and Med Health Services,
can perform the same evaluation in two or three hours that a hospital performs
in one week's time. Our expeditious, same-day testing allows us to diagnose
without delay, and proceed with treatment, which is essential in modern times
specially for the care of advanced and complex pathology patients." Dr. Caminos' goal is to help put the modern-day tools that are essential in providing
state-of-the-art treatment and diagnostic technical procedures in the hands of
physicians - tools that are often stripped from physicians in the outpatient
setting by hospitals and other large organizations.
Dr. Caminos completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Cardiology in
Argentina at the University of La Plata's General San Martin Institute, and
later fulfilled his cardiology fellowship at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital
in Pittsburgh, PA. For more than 25 years, Dr. Caminos has specialized in
clinical and invasive cardiology. In the last several years he has put special
emphasis in the care and follow-up of Congestive Failure, CVA and end-stage
complex vascular patients. He also provides medical training at Pittsburgh
Cardiovascular Institute in vascular and cardiac sonography to imaging
technicians and students from several sonography schools. Dr. Caminos currently
has privileges in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at the Western Pennsylvania
Hospital, the Western Pennsylvania Hospital Forbes Regional Campus, and UPMC
Shadyside Hospital. He is licensed in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida.
